2013 Christmas Devotional

To me it just doesn't feel like the Christmas Season can start until I've watched the Christmas Devotional from the First Presidency. Before we had the convenience of watching it from a computer, I remember as a very small child being a little confused as to why we had to go back to the church at night for "more church" but I recall the special spirit that was felt while listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and listening to the words of our Prophets and feeling the spirit testify of our savior Jesus Christ. If you weren't able to watch it this year, there's still time. How blessed we are to have living prophets today that we can listen to and feel of their love and their testimony of the true meaning of Christmas.

Primary Project: Family Photo

Sisters,   Please see the e-mail below from the Primary Presidency.   Nampa 36th Ward,   The theme for primary next year is Families are Forever.  We are trying to collect family pictures from everyone in the ward, even if you do not have children in the primary!:)  We would love for the picture to have your whole family in it.  It can either be a professional photo, or one that you have just taken yourself!  It doesn't matter, as long as it includes your whole family.  We want to have as many as we can before Christmas, so please take a minute and email us a picture to the email below.  Thanks so much!   -Primary Presidency

Service opportunities and Sunday Lesson

Sisters,   I've got a full e-mail for you all today!   1) The Bartschi's are moving some things into their new place tonight and need some help unloading boxes at 5:30. Their new address is 19652 Cumberland Way. Take Linden to Ward and they are in the Delaware Park Subdivision.   2) We have a family in need of some warm blankets for the winter. Any size would be nice, but queen and king size would be especially helpful. If you are able to help out, please respond to this e-mail or contact any member of the RS presidency. Any of us would be happy to pick them up from you.   3) A reminder of a previous announcement, Marlis Maillet is looking for empty baby food jars, approximately 20. More are welcome if available. She needs to have them by Thanksgiving. Even if you only have 1 or 2, it will help and add up quickly. Please respond and let us know if you'll be able to collect some.   4) This coming Sunday the lesson will be from this past General Conference address, "No Other Gods" by Dallin H Oaks. Link to article can be found here.   Sisters, thank you all so much for your compassion, love, and service. It is a beautiful thing to witness.       RS Presidency                 Sister Willson                 Sister Nebeker                 Sister Eaton                 Sister Ricker

Cookie recipe. These were so good!

Hi Sisters!   After getting rave reviews on the scrumptious cookies Sister Nebeker made Sunday, I asked her for her recipe and she has obliged! :) Thank you Meghan!!  Her recipe is attached. And should any of you have extras floating around after making them...my door is open. :)

Andes Mint Cookies Recipe

1 Devil's Food Cake Mix
 or Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
1/2 cup oil

2 eggs

1 package of Andes Mints

Mix cake mix, oil, and eggs together. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 6-9 minutes. Don't cook any longer than that! You don't want them to be overdone!
Take sheet out of oven and while the cookies are still very hot, place an Andes Mint on top of each cookie. In about 5 minutes, the mint will be melted. Take a spoon and smooth out each mint like frosting.
