An Invite from the Bishop

*NOTE: This was taken from an email from the Bishop, and ask that you 'reply to this email if you're interested'. But you can email him separately if needed. If you do not currently get emails from the bishop and would like to be added, please let him or a member of the bishopric know so you don't miss out on any important news, updates, or invites from our inspired ward leader. Thanks

Brothers & Sisters, Earlier in the year, the ward council and a few other members of the ward participated in what we called 30-for-30. Brother Eames' brother-in-law had provided the audio files of 30 of his favorite church talks, and we listened to one each day of the month. I found this to be a very rewarding experience, and had the impression to do something similar for our ward for the month of September. I have pulled together 30 of my favorite talks from past and present men we sustain as prophets, seers, and revelators. The talks range in length from 8 minutes to 45 minutes, and each is in an audio format that you can listen to on your computer or from a handheld device. Perhaps you listen to them on your drive into work instead of the radio; or perhaps you listen to them in the morning/evening instead of watching a TV program. Either way, I promise that you will be inspired and uplifted as you make the time. If you would like to participate, please reply to this email indicating this. I will then send you an invite to a website called DropBox where the audio files will be stored. You can then listen to them from the website or download them to your own device, whichever you prefer. Thank you for all you do. Bishop

A Note From Our Bishop Advocating Family

Brothers & Sisters, Over the last few of months, I have experienced a growing concern around the increasing intensity of attacks against the family. What was generally unacceptable a decade ago, and morally reprehensible a generation ago, is now being advocated as an issue of freedom and tolerance. In the face of shifting and decaying societal values, it is more important than ever that we emphasize the teaching of true doctrine in our homes. We must be firmly on the Lord’s side in this eternally significant matter. Nearly 18 years ago, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles issued a proclamation to the world that teaches the doctrine of the family in language that is inescapably clear. I would ask that each family take time in the next few weeks to watch/read the proclamation and counsel together on what you can do to strengthen your family and be an advocate in the community where we live. I promise that as you make this a matter of prayerful consideration, the Lord will bless you with greater unity and fortify the spiritual protection around your family. http://www.lds.org/ensign/1995/11/the-family-a-proclamation-to-the-world?lang=eng#watch=video If you do not have a copy of the proclamation for your home, please let one of our ward clerks know. Thank you for all you do. Bishop Stephan

RS Pool Party!

Sisters,    Just a reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday 13 @ 6:30, is our Pool Party activity. It is at Vicki Taylor's home on the corner of Midland and Linden. Bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Also wear your swim suits (if you want), and bring a chair. Don't forget to bring your neighbors or the ladies you VT. Can't wait to see you there!
