9/28 Announcements

Announcements

Dear Sisters,

This week, we were privileged to be taught by Sister Amy Erickson on President Uchtdorf’s talk from the April 2014 Conference titled, Grateful in Any Circumstances. President Uchtdorf teaches us that it is easy to be grateful when everything is right with our lives but when our world falls apart, gratitude seems to be far out of reach.  Elder Uchtdorf encourages us to be thankful in our circumstances, whatever they may be.  “When we are grateful to God in our circumstances, we can experience gentle peace in the midst of tribulation. In grief, we can still lift up our hearts in praise. In pain, we can glory in Christ’s Atonement. In the cold of bitter sorrow, we can experience the closeness and warmth of heaven’s embrace. We sometimes think that being grateful is what we do after our problems are solved, but how terribly shortsighted that is. How much of life do we miss by waiting to see the rainbow before thanking God that there is rain?” There is no lesson next week as it is General Conference. The following week, Oct 12th, we will be discussing Chapter 19 of the Joseph Fielding Smith manual, In the World but Not of the World.

Funeral Information

Sisters, We regret to inform you that Bro. Mike Olsen (Stacey) has passed away.  The funeral services will be held in our church building on Saturday, Sept 27th at 1:00 PM.  We would encourage you to come and support Sister Olsen and her family at this difficult time. We will need help providing a meal after the funeral as well as additional meals over the weekend until the family leaves for Utah for the burial.  If you  are able to help with either the funeral meal or the additional meals for the family, please respond to this email or call Sister Meghan Nebeker directly at 801-361-4870. In lieu of flowers, and because the family will not be here long, if you wish to contribute, a donation can be dropped off at Sister Nichole Aldous's home. Thank you

Sept 21,2014 Announcements!

Announcements

Dear Sisters,

This week, we were taught by Sister Vicki Taylor from chapter 18 of the Joseph Fielding Smith manual- Living by Every Word That Proceeds from the Mouth of God. We had a great discussion about “why” we keep the commandments. It is when we are keeping the commandments that the Lord blesses us and strengthens us. President Smith said, “Keep the commandments. Walk in the light. Endure to the end. Be true to every covenant and obligation, and the Lord will bless you beyond your fondest dreams.” Next week’s lesson will be taught by Sister Amy Erickson and is titled Grateful in Any Circumstances from Elder Uchtdorf’s April 2014 Conference talk. Please print out and bring a copy with you.
