Letter from the Bishop

Brothers & Sisters, As Brother Eames mentioned in sacrament meeting today, with the establishment of the Idaho Nampa Mission, we have the blessing of the full time missionaries being assigned to a fewer number of wards. Elder Barnes and Elder Vanwagoner are assigned to the 1st ward and 36th ward, and with that comes an increased opportunity for our ward to support their efforts. One such way we can do this is by making ourselves available for the Elders to come into our homes to practice teaching. This is a last resort they will turn to in the event they are unable to meet with investigators. Elder Vanwagoner just came from the MTC on Wednesday, so this will also provide an excellent opportunity for him as he starts out his mission. This will also bring a powerful spirit into your home that will bless your family. What this means is that from time to time, the missionaries may contact you with very little notice and ask if the can come into your home and practice teaching the discussions. If this poses a problem or concern for you, please reply and let me know. We have never had a missionary opportunity like this in our ward before; I feel that we are on the cusp of seeing miraculous occurrences in our missionary efforts. Thank you for all you do! Bishop

Missionary Housing

Brothers & Sisters,
With the creation of the Nampa Idaho Mission this month, there is a current and growing need for missionary housing. Within a year, the Nampa mission is expected to grow to 150-200 missionaries (currently around 60).
If you are in a position where you believe you would be able to provide housing for the full time missionaries, please call or email me and I will provide more details.
Thank you for all you do.

Scout Supply Closet is in need!

We would like to sincerely thank all ward members who have contributed to the scout fund. These donations have helped pay for scout camp and provide necessary supplies for campouts, etc. We know that not everyone is able to contribute financially to the scout fund and there are those who would still like to help. We have identified a few items through our inventory of the scout supply closet that our scouts still need to have in order to provide a better camping experience. If anyone has any of the following items and would like to donate one or more of them please contact a member of the scout committee. The items include a shovel, an ax, propane lantern(s), a large pot/kettle for boiling water, large mixing spoons, straining spoon, potato masher, and large briquette tongs. If you are wondering if the scouts could use an item, give a committee member a call. Thank you all again for your continued support for the scouts.
