A Note From Our Bishop Advocating Family

Brothers & Sisters, Over the last few of months, I have experienced a growing concern around the increasing intensity of attacks against the family. What was generally unacceptable a decade ago, and morally reprehensible a generation ago, is now being advocated as an issue of freedom and tolerance. In the face of shifting and decaying societal values, it is more important than ever that we emphasize the teaching of true doctrine in our homes. We must be firmly on the Lord’s side in this eternally significant matter. Nearly 18 years ago, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles issued a proclamation to the world that teaches the doctrine of the family in language that is inescapably clear. I would ask that each family take time in the next few weeks to watch/read the proclamation and counsel together on what you can do to strengthen your family and be an advocate in the community where we live. I promise that as you make this a matter of prayerful consideration, the Lord will bless you with greater unity and fortify the spiritual protection around your family. http://www.lds.org/ensign/1995/11/the-family-a-proclamation-to-the-world?lang=eng#watch=video If you do not have a copy of the proclamation for your home, please let one of our ward clerks know. Thank you for all you do. Bishop Stephan
