Announcements 10/27

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear Sisters,

This week our lesson was given by Sister Stacey Wilhelmsen on the topic of the Sacrament.  She referenced Elder James J. Hamula and Sister Cheryl Esplin talks from our last General Conference.
Sister Esplin quoted Elder Holland when he said “One of the invitations inherent in the sacramental ordinance is that it be a truly spiritual experience, a holy communion, a renewal for the soul.”
We had great discussion about how the sisters in our ward prepare for and use the Sacrament as a time to renew their souls.
Elder Hamula said, “The ordinance of the sacrament has been called “one of the most holy and sacred ordinances in the Church.”  It needs to become more holy and sacred to each of us.”
Next week, we will hear from Sister Shelby Hansen for our 1st Sunday discussion.

Message from our Stake President

Message from our Stake President

Brothers & Sisters,

I would like to invite you to participate in a "30 for 30" during the month of November. During each day in November, you will have the opportunity to listen to a message from one of our church leaders as part of your daily scripture study. You could listen as a family or as an individual. You could listen while at home, at work, or while driving. It doesn't matter how or when. If you would like to participate, send an email to 466808@ldsmail.net with a subject line of "30 for 30". You will then receive an email invitation to a website called dropbox.com that will have the thirty talks for you to download. They can be played from your computer or any mobile device. They are numbed from 1 to 30 to correspond with the days in November. We are blessed to live in a day when the voices of apostles and other church leaders can be heard so easily and conveniently. I promise that as you make the time for this endeavor you will be uplifted, inspired, and edified.
Thank you for all you do, and may the Lord bless you.
President Reid Stephan

Announcements 10/19

Announcements

Dear Sisters,

This week our lesson was from Chapter 20 of the Joseph Fielding Smith manual, Love and Concern for All Our Father's Children. Ultimately, we can learn to love our neighbors, as ourselves, if we understand the doctrine that we (you and I !!!) are a Child of God. President Smith says, "I believe it is our solemn duty to love one another, to believe in each other, to have faith in each other, that it is our duty to overlook the faults and the failings of each other, and not to magnify them in our own eyes nor before the eyes of the world... If we will do this, respecting all the commandments of the Lord, we shall be a power in the world for good; we shall overwhelm and overcome all evil, all opposition to the truth, and bring to pass righteousness upon the face of the earth." If you are struggling with someone this week, try to find "one good thing" about them. Remember who they really are- a Child of God.
Next week, we will hear from Sister Stacey Wilhelmsen as she teaches from our latest Conference addresses: Sister Cheryl Esplin's talk ,The Sacrament- a Renewal for the Soul and a talk by Elder James J. Hamula, The Sacrament and the Atonement. Please print out and bring these talks with you.
